Volunteer as a peer tutor

Use your knowledge and expertise to help a fellow student in need of tutoring support — volunteer as a peer tutor. You must have an ‘A’ grade or higher in the course(s) you wish to tutor. Volunteer peer tutors will be matched with a peer requiring assistance based on demand.

Volunteer peer tutoring is an approved Co-Curricular Record activity and an unpaid opportunity.

Hire a tutor

Connect with a tutor through SAIT’s tutor registry — a list of qualified peer and professional tutors. These tutors set their own availability and hourly rates and will work with you directly to schedule sessions and arrange payment.

Note: SAIT does not employ tutors through this registry. SAIT does not require tutors to provide criminal record checks and cannot guarantee personal character. It is always recommended you meet your tutor in a public place.

Join the tutor registry as a tutor for hire

Join SAIT’s tutor registry as either a peer or a professional tutor. As a tutor on the registry, you will set your own availability and hourly rates, and you’ll be responsible for managing your own schedule and arranging payments.

Writing Centre

Writing effectively and making presentations with confidence are two keys to a successful academic experience.

Connect with a writing tutor

Connect with a writing tutor for support with a written assignment, project or presentation, by emailing >tutoring@sait.ca Please keep your assignment due date in mind and contact a tutor well in advance of your deadline.

A writing tutor can:

  • help clarify assignments
  • teach you how to brainstorm and outline writing assignments
  • give feedback on the organization of your writing or presentation drafts
  • teach you how to correct errors in grammar and help with sentence structure
  • show you methods for documenting sources and avoiding plagiarism
  • show you how to proofread and edit work
  • facilitate group projects that involve reports
  • provide feedback on visual presentations (e.g. PowerPoint).

Request feedback on your writing assignments via email

You can also request feedback on your writing assignments via email. Email your draft to writing.help@sait.ca for feedback.

The Writing Help Inbox is open Monday through Friday and response times are typically three business days. However, during peak periods of the semester, this may be longer. Make sure you submit your work early. This is not an editing service. However, we will review your work and provide feedback and resources to help improve your writing.

Please make sure you send your email from your SAIT email account.

Remember to include:

  • your name and student ID number
  • course code, instructor name and program of study at SAIT
  • the reason for submitting your paper or assignment
  • assignment due date
